While we have all been working hard to lower the Coronavirus curve there is another one the members of the Cherrybrook Combined Probus Club have been raising.
It is apparent that club members have been upping the technology curve exponentially. We have embraced new technologies, especially Zoom, with varying degrees of success but definitely with enthusiasm.
Although only a few months ago Zoom meant little to most of us, recently some of our interest groups and the committee have been meeting virtually and last month about 80 tech-savvy souls logged onto a short but successful Zoom May General Meeting. This was a victim of its own success and an expanded version is anticipated for June.
Fortunately, the easing of some government restrictions has allowed the Golfing group to socialise and compete and also the planning of some ‘real’ outdoor events with our Walks and Social Drive co-ordinators trialling and tinkering with ways to hold gatherings while observing social distancing.
The Social Drive may not yet be able to have to carpool but with takeaway coffee to begin and picnics at the end, the new norm may be quite tolerable. Our walks may require staggered starts or alternate routes around parks but time outside will be wonderful. Whatever eventuates our members will gratefully grab it and run (well maybe walk very fast!) with it (in groups of 10 of course!) while we await the opportunity for larger group gatherings.
If you are semi-retired or retired and have promised yourself to get out and enjoy life, Cherrybrook Combined Probus could be for you. Normally we meet on the first Thursday of the month at the Cherrybrook Community Centre, Shepherds Lane, Cherrybrook though currently meetings are suspended.
